Zumba Class – Polly’s Perspective

I think this might be the first blogging trilogy ever!  Three motivational speakers taking a Zumba class together with three very different experiences.  Get comfy and read on:

So I Think I Can Dance so I couldn’t wait to bring my two motivational speaker friends to a Zumba class for all of us to have a little shaky shaky fun!  I knew the instructor was fabulous and I personally needed some more cardio in my week so I got there early and eager.  Maybe a little too eager because I didn’t even wait by the front door to make sure they could find the studio, upstairs, around the corner.  I wasn’t going to miss a beat of the warm up!  Selfish that way.  What put me even more solidly in my happy place was a jingle jangle chiffon sash that the instructor lent me to tie around my hips so I could hear and feel every move they would (attempt to) make.

Now, I’ve only been to two of these classes before and it was a while ago, so I wasn’t familiar with any of the choreography.  I really had to concentrate and watch her feet.  I let my arms do their own thing.  I couldn’t worry about them.

Oh yay!  Linda and Kelly made it just after the music started!  Let’s all have fun now (ignoring the worried looks on their faces)!  Stomp – Pop – Shake – Shimmy.  Woohoo! We’re dancing!  Oh, wow, a Bollywood number!  An this one’s a little gangsta (I so don’t move gangsta but the mean, disgusted look on my face is workin’).Oh look, the instructor has us facing the side mirror and now I’m in the front row.  Time to really perform!

By the time my feet are feeling a little warm in their dancing shoes, the class is over.  That hour simply zoomed by (or is it Zoomba-d by :))!

A lyrical, slow jazz cool down stretch later, my feel good hormones are dancing in every cell in my body, confirming that this needs to be a necessary part of my week that would fill the bill of what I speak about: burning excess calories, being social, and reducing stress.  Zumbaaaah!

But this is just my perspective.  Come along with me and let’s find out what motivational speaker Linda Larsen has to say and it will lead you to the after-shock of motivational speaker Kelly Swanson.

From your shakin’, poppin’, clappin’ motivational speaker who can’t wait to go again and get it right!

Motivational Speaker Polly Pitchford didn’t always know the phytochemical benefits of kale, in fact, those words weren’t even in her vocabulary 30 years ago. Neither did she see any reason to do jumping jacks on a cement surface for an hour. But all it took was a chance vegetarian cooking class and some high-energy music to open her eyes upon a whole new world of healthy living. For 30 years Polly has practiced, studied, taught, educated and lived a healthy lifestyle that makes her such a powerful speaker.

Polly’s down-to-Earth and humorous approach mirrors her own lifelong journey to lasting, positive changes. The audience walks away with tangible plans for improving their health and their lives through food, fitness and fun.

  1. So that’s how YOU saw it? Figures you are a motivational speaker! And a good one at that. You go girl. Maybe if I hang around you more some of this happy attitude will rub off! Rock on Polly!

  2. And, by the way – as I read this, Polly and Linda are making me drink a vegetable smoothie! Will the madness never end!

  3. Hahahahahahahhahahahha. This was SO not my experience!  But maybe this is why you look like YOU do with your lean, healthy, amazing self – and I look like how I do with my fluffly, floppy, flabby self.  Want to see my radically different experience???  Click here!

  4. You guys are great!  I just wonder when we all speak, do our audiences have as many individual experiences as they hear their own version of our motivational speaking?  Who knew!

  5. Again, wonderful trilogy and full of funny. You remind me of my daughter Polly who not only loves Zumba (and brought me with on occasion — okay, it is fun) but is into the ab classes, spin classes and PX whatever class that I see as pure torture. She’s ALWAYS bugging me to go and we must be early too! My own motivational speaker in the house on exercise.
