Ten days ago it snowed in Traverse City, Michigan, where my motivational keynote business was born. Five days ago there, it was 86 degrees and sunny.
This morning in my New Jersey village, it was hot and humid and still. Yet outside my window, at this exact moment, is a torrential downpour and the wind-whipped trees look like front-row Lady Gaga fans.
“If you don’t like the weather around here, just wait a minute!” is a saying I have heard oft repeated by locals everywhere I’ve lived. They all give a wink of supposed originality.
You’ve heard it before, right?
The weather can turn on a dime. And so can our lives. This is something I remind myself of when I am feeling stuck or down. That no matter how dark and dreary things seem at this moment, in a short time it will get brighter.
Being a human being is not a walk in the park. We are faced with challenges and heartache and Abercrombie & Fitch. If you are in one of those places right now, feeling as if you are walking in the rain with no umbrella, take a deep breath and keep walking, because things will change.
Hold on. Just stay steady and hold on. And eventually the clouds will part, the sun will come out and warm your face and fill your soul with renewed strength.
Hold on. The sun WILL shine.
