Now I get it! At least I'm understanding a little better. Not too long ago my friend and funny motivational speaker, Linda Larsen, was trying to understand how I can resist the urge to splurge. Why don't I cave when a macadamia nut cookie or cinnamon bun hot from the oven is offered? I didn't know how to answer at the time but after reading this insightful article on cravings I think I can say that I must place enough time between indulging in a decadent dessert (or chip or cheeseburger) that the image of the food has faded in my mind, therefore there isn't a strong enough visual that compels me towards the "reward".
