The Death of Traditional Advertising

My husband shared a brilliant article with me that I just have to share with you, because it speaks to what I’ve been saying for a while now – that the entire game has changed in business. I don’t care if you are a motivational speaker or a plumber – the old way of doing business is over. The playground has changed (hello internet) and the conversation has changed (hello social media) and the middle men are disappearing (good bye people we needed to help us find customers).  And if you are not getting business, you might want to consider whether you are still doing the same things you were a year ago, expecting the same results.

Here’s the article on how traditional advertising is over:

Your motivational speaker, who’s desperately just trying to keep up!

Motivational Speaker Kelly Swanson - called one of North Carolina's funniest women by Our State Magazine. Kelly lifts the spirits of audiences from coast-to-coast using humor, storytelling, and lives of the characters from Prides Hollow - Kelly's make believe small town. This unique approach to motivational speaking allows Kelly to break through communications barriers and connect directly to the audience's imagination.
Her powerful stories and wacky wit will make you laugh, remind you that you matter, show you how to see beyond your obstacles, and teach you how to stand up and stick out in a crowded market.

  1. LOVE this article.  I want to read every post even remotely related to this topic.  Thanks for sharing, Kelly!

  2. So true. And since this motivational speaker is in love with a former Mad Men, even more truth as he’s living it every day. The game has changed. Thankfully, he’s willing to grow and change to stay relevant. We all have to.

  3. Love this article too… thanks Kelly! Reading it at first fell into the category of “things that make me go hmmmmm…” and then before I knew it, it evoked a strong call to action and I caught myself firing off e-mails to various people. I so appreciate your… what at first felt like education… and quickly evolved into motivation!
