As a motivational speaker I travel and lot and seriously understand the value in staying as physically fit as possible. So when I'm not traveling I like to go to my local gym and work out at least four times per week. But there are times when, honestly, I don't feel like working out. I'm too tired, I have no energy, my brain hurts, my right pinky finger is throbbing, my hair is too scary looking, my dog wants to play, my… You get the point.
And then, just the other day, it hit me.
NOT FEELING LIKE WORKING OUT IS NOT A VALID REASON FOR NOT WORKING OUT.
IN FACT, IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT, THAT'S EXACTLY WHY YOU NEED TO DO IT."
I had been telling myself a big fat lie. I had been telling myself that it WAS a valid reason. That if I didn't feeeeeel like it, it was okay to bail.
Not okay. No more. Now if I have injured myself or there is something wrong with me physically, then okay, but just because I don't feeeeeeel like it? Aaaanh. Thank you for playing.
So the next time you hear yourself saying that you don't feeeeeel like working out, or writing that blogpost, or answering that phone call, just say to yourself, "Oh, how cool! I don't feel like it – therefore it is EXACTLY what I need to do!"
And, by the way, afterward, you will feeeeeeeel fantastic! You might even celebrate with a few of your closest friends!
