The BEST Valentine EVER!

Valentine’s cards.  We have loved them since we were little kids, and while it’s always nice to get them, there is still a bit of an unmistakeable “commercial” element that ever so slightly diminishes the meaning.  Well move over Hallmark!  Try this idea that is guaranteed to make someone VERY special and much loved.

Take out a sheet of pretty paper and at the top of it write “Twenty Things I LOVE About YOU!” Then proceed to list things that you sincerely, genuinely and deeply love about this person.  It could be your boyfriend, wife, partner, child, friend, teacher, minister, hairdresser, YOU NAME IT!  When you’re finished, sign it with love and put it in an envelope.  If you want to get fancy you can either frame it or have it laminated.

I created one of these and gave it to my son about 5 years ago.  It’s STILL taped to the book shelf in his home office where he can see it every day.  My husband folded up the one I gave him almost 10 years ago and carries in his wallet.  I keep offering to create him another one since that one is falling apart, but he refuses to part with it.  And, interestingly, not long after I gave him my list of things I love about him, he gave ME one!  I can say, without hesitation, this is the most prized gift he has ever given me.  Ever.  I cry every time I read it.

So. Twenty Things!  Hop to it! Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

With love from your Valentine, um, I mean, motivational speaker, Linda Larsen
