So What’s Stopping You From Doing What You Said You Would Do?

motivational speakers say go

My word for today is ACTION.

I was reading this great blog (I will share the link below so you can read it too) on taking action. As motivational speakers we talk a lot about motivation. But it means nothing if you don’t get out there and actually DO IT. If you are doing it – way to go. If not, then I ask:

Yes, I screamed it. Because sometimes we need a coach who gets in our face and pushes us to take action. So if you are the one who needs to hear it, hear me when I say this – and hear the love and grace in which it is wrapped.

  1. Did you decide that there was something you were going to do this year to get business or change your life?
  2. What was it? Name it. Right now.
  3. Did you do it?
  4. Did you at least start it?
  5. Why not?
  6. Is it because you don’t know how? Did you forget to write down a simple action plan to get there?
  7. Is it because you are afraid? Well do it anyway. The fear will always be there.
  8. Is it because you think maybe you were supposed to be doing something else? Well then change the plan and go after it. Don’t be an eternal plan maker. Pick something and DO IT.
  9. Is it because you’d rather sit on your couch? Then don’t complain about your dreams not coming true. You don’t work for it – you don’t get it.
  10. Did you get a good start, but then fizzled out? Well find a way to energize yourself. Nobody else is going to do it for you. Get back in touch with that dream. You have to refuel yourself.
And if you still sit there dumbfounded, whining about the same thing you did last year, and you haven’t really done anything constructive to change. Then you’ve already lost. Turn it around, or find something else to do. I think there comes a point where if we haven’t done it by now, we aren’t ever going to do it.¬†Sorry for the tough love moment – but dreams take work. They don’t go to the lucky – they go to the persistence. Those “successful” people earned their way. So should you.And I know you can do it. I believe in you. But I can’t do it for you. And I can’t believe enough for both of us. How about meeting me halfway?

Your wacky motivational speaker who needed to hear this as much as you did,

  1. Hey Kelly Swanson, Motivational Speaker Extraordinnaire! I bet I’m not alone in wishing I had you floating along beside me in my life for those times when I need a dedicated “voice of success” reminding me what needs to happen. Thanks for the list. Maybe I’ll just print it out and use it on myself!

  2. I’m so glad that not only are you a colleague in the wonderful world of motivational speakers, but that you are a friend. You don’t tell me what I want to hear, you tell me what I need to hear. Thank you very much for being awesome and for asking the tough questions!

  3. Well, thank you ladies for the kind words. But I’m only quoting the voice inside my head who pushes me to action. I’m only saying what I most need to hear! :)
