Locked Out of LinkedIn – Or So It Seems.

As a motivational speaker, I know that I HAVE to talk advantage of all the social media outlets. But I don’t understand LinkedIn. Don’t know exactly what to click and get all turned around in there. So what I do I USUALLY do when I can’t figure out how some technological thing works?  Well, because I am such an inquisitive, curious, dedicated person, I usually give up.  Hey, I’m working on it.

Anyway, when I find a short, clear blog that clears things up for me a bit – I’m in.

Here’s a link back to an article about how to used LinkedIn effectively that should help me get past this block I’ve got.  Maybe it an help you too!

  1. Thanks, Linda. I can use all the help I can get!

  2. Thanks Linda! I haven’t read the article yet, so this might be redundant, but here is what I know about LinkedIn that might help.

    1. It’s not going to help your search engine rankings. Google search engines don’t give it much credit.

    2. It will help you meet people in business. If you go in there looking for somebody and they are there, and they allow you to connect with them.

    3. It’s a great place for groups to have conversations and share information about your industry.  You can go start one, or participate in one.

    4. It’s a way to introduce yourself to someone rather than cold calling – a little easier. If that person is on there and allows you to connect.

    5. It’s purpose is business – for the most part. So here is not where you share what you had for breakfast. Though I still do sometimes.

    6. I have never received business from someone who met me on LinkedIn or found me because of LinkedIn. That’s just my experience. Might be different for others.

    7. It’s a great way to get to know an industry – by joining their group  if it’s open to you. If I want to speak to admins, then joining an admin group would help me get to know their challenges and issues.

    8. Selling your product/service is a no-no here to. While it’s done, it is not appreciated by the members. Again, it’s about connecting and relationship building.

  3. Thanks Linda – I’m with Colette on this one, I can use all the help I can get here!  Appreciate it.
