Zig Ziglar captivated the world and we mourn his loss today.
This is a sad day for me as a 20-year motivational speaker. Zig Ziglar was the best, end of story. I remember listening to him in the 80's and never passed a chance to see him in person. Not everyone was as enthusiastic as I was about the prospect of seeing him live. In fact, when I was new in the corporate world working as a manager trainee in San Jose, I found out Zig was going to be speaking at an event in Oakland. As a manager trainee, I was super psyched to share Zig with the other managers in my area. I took it upon myself to buy 6 tickets knowing that I could get at least 5 other managers to go with me. Well, needless to say, I ate the cost of the other 5 tickets. I guess I wasn't as good of a sales person as Zig was because I couldn't convince anyone to go with me! But for those people lucky enough to be in his audience, they would probably agree – he set the bar.
He used to sign his books, 'See you at the top!'
In homage to him, I adopted my own Zigism and to this day use 'See you in the Front-Row'!
He was an amazing man helping others achieve their dreams. He was the ultimate usher and today, sadly his light has been extinguished. But the light of his life will shine forever, helping others get to the top.
With admiration, respect, and awe of the life of such a great man, your humbled motivational speaker, Marilyn Sherman
