How to Get Inspired, Be Creative and Standout

Motivational speakers get inspired by watching OTHER motivational speakers.  And if you think about it, the JOB of a motivational speaker is not ONLY to inspire people but wake them up to a better, more effective, happier, more cost effective, healthier way of doing things – and then give them ideas and tools to make it happen!  So when I want to be inspired AND get great ideas about I can do my job better, I watch other speakers.  And this can work for people in ANY line of work.  Go study the people who do what you do and are BRILLIANT at it!

AND HERE IS THE REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT PART WHEN YOU ARE IN ONE BUSINESS
AND YOU ARE LOOKING TO GET INSPIRED BY SOMEONE ELSE IN YOUR SAME FIELD:

(OH LOOK, I'M CENTER JUSTIFYING AND SHOUTING. BECAUSE IT'S THAT IMPORTANT).

YOU DON'T TAKE, COPY OR STEAL ANY PART OF WHAT YOUR COMPETITION IS DOING
YOU SIMPLY ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION AS YOU ARE OBSERVING THEM:

WHAT DOES THIS MAKE ME THINK OF?

ASK IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND LET YOUR LITTLE FERTILE CREATIVE MIND GO TO WORK

So I was watching a video of my colleague and friend, Colette Carlson and was torn between 3 different responses:

  1. Laughing my fool head off
  2. Thinking, "This content is GREAT!"
  3. Asking myself, "What does this make me think of?"

Okay, so I don't have an answer to number three yet.  This is just such a creative and entertaining way of making a point – that it stands out as VERY unique.  So I'll be working on this for some time.  BUT I want YOU to see this video so that you can see a GREAT example of an excellent motivational speaker doing a fabulous job!

Watch this and enjoy!  http://colettecarlson.com/video/

  1. I love this advice Linda! I look at other people/genres/forms of entertainment all the time – not to take their way of doing things – but take the premises. I will watch an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond and see something that husbands and wives fight about it – and bingo – I’ve got the premise for my own joke. Thank you for this awesome advice to help motivational speakers – and anybody really – to learn how to look around and still think for themselves.

And Colette’s video ROCKS!!!!! I’ve seen it live – which is even better! She is wickedly funny and can bring a point home like nobody’s business.

  2. You two motivational speakers are incredible. Appreciate the fact that you two enjoyed what I created as I respect both your talents immensely. Feeling like that woman tonight……:-)
