How to Create Long Lasting Love – the Power of Now!

Motivational speakers are NOT exempt from crazy amounts of office work.  I’m sitting here with PILES of “stuff” to get done.  Phone calls to make; a script to finish, taxes to flippin’ file; and hey, where did that phone number go? I’m dancing as fast as I can – but I just can’t seem to catch up.

In walks my Weather Muffin from work, happy as always, cute as he can be, and says, “Hey! Wanna go for a kayak ride in a little while?”

Oh geez. Seriously? But….but….but…

If this kind of thing has ever happened to you – then you know the trap, right?  You want to have a “date night” with your honey, but oooooh there is SO much house work to be done.  You want to have a sultry, sexy, sensual encounter, but you are just too tired.  You want the two of you to take a long weekend for a fun getaway, but you should spend the money on a little upgraded landscaping.

Consider the advice from one of Oprah’s recent magazines:  “When a partner leaves, it’s the final step in a dance of departure that began long ago.  Now is the time to create rapport and intimacy – not when you’re finished with a project, not in a few months or years, not when the relationship may have endured too much for too long.”

So.  I ask you. What one, simple but meaningful activity can you engage in with your honey….today?

Gotta run. There is a kayak calling my name!

  1. Aw. Great advice. That’s what made me go camping with the boys the other weekend. And I don’t regret it.

  2. Love the picture of your weather muffin in the kayak, in the garage!  Classic!  Frenchie does this all the time – he’ll say ‘Do you wanna walk the park?’ and I know, he’s talking about our back yard. We stop what we’re doing and look at the buds on the peach tree, the leaves on the fig tree, the roses crawling up the trellis and the palm tree that needs a little love.  It’s a great way to really, literally stop and smell the roses.  Thanks for the reminder!
