Fell Out Of Love With Your Dream?

motivationalspeakerkellyswansonSI was reading this wonderful woman's blog post on Eight Women Dream (posted below) about falling in love with your dream again. And it made me realize that, yes, there are moments when we fall out of love with our dream. I'm a motivational speaker and a dreamer, and I so get this. At first it's all romance and fireworks – we are on cloud nine  – we see the dream and it is beautiful, and everything is right with the world.

And then the first obstacle hits. And then another one. And then someone says it's a stupid dream. And then we try it and it doesn't work. And suddenly that dream starts to look like that pair of sequined platform pumps you were sure were going to change your life. Glitz and glitter, and then reality hits and you realize they don't make you look like a movie star, but more like a dollar store mannequin. And the excitement fades. And suddenly you don't want to do this anymore.

Been there? Me too. It's not pretty. In fact, it's down right discouraging. And this is the point when most people give up.

Don't be most people.

Be the 1% that refuses to give up. Find a way to fall back in love with that dream again. Find those people who believed in you and get them to remind you how exciting it is. Remember that moment when you first met your dream – and what got your attention. And then just believe. Trust. And get back up again. It's too soon to quit.

I believe in you – now it's time to go back out there and believe in yourself.

Happy Dreaming!

  1. Kelly you are such a powerful messenger, cheerleader, teacher, motivational speaker, and inspirationalist (I made up that last word.)  It would be DANGED hard to lose sight of a dream with you around. Every single person on the planet should have you in their corner! I am so grateful that I do.

  2. Ditto Linda! I'll add another to the list. Dream-catcher. When people fall, you catch them and put them back on path.

  3. I know the power of someone else's belief in me when I've hit those obstacles.  All it takes are 4 simple words spoken with sincerity to get you back on track; "I believe in you."  As motivational speakers we have golden opportunities to speak to individuals in our audience and let them know that we believe in their talents, strength, whatever and I know the power of those words will help propel some of them onto their dream!
