  1. Great advice, Kelly. I remember a couple of years ago having a conversation with a friend and colleague of mine – who was someone I KNEW was a very successful motivational speaker. I remember her telling me that her speaking calendar the year before had been so bad she was thinking of leaving the business. What??? This woman was (and IS) one of the biggies in our industry! That told me that I will NEVER know what's going on behind the facade of anyone's life.

  2. True true true!  I think that I go through trials so that I too can be more grateful that the work that I do get.  It's never easy is it?  If people only knew what the life of motivational speaker was, they may not want to do it.  But, even all the hard work and ups and downs (and there are many) there's nothing I'd rather be doing.  Besides, I can't cook.

  3. You're right Kelly, we ARE like the carnival folk, not the red carpet stars with trailing papparazzi!  I love that perspective because I actually know quite a few circus performers (being from the Ringling Brother's township, Sarasota, FL) and they LOVE what they do and would never dream of stopping, despite the ups and downs (pun intended) and hard work.  Thank you for your ongoing encouragement and realistic viewpoint of our world!

  4. Link won't load, but I got the gist from the comments. Thanks ladies and thanks Kelly for always reminding us to stay on our path looking forward.
