Embarrassing Moment? Find the Funny!

At a recent keynote, I broke a rule that every speaker learns in Speaker 101.

It would be so easy to pretend it didn't happen and to shrink in my embarrassment.  Instead, I took a deep breath and chose to embrace my inner dork and use it as an example, and it was one of those magic improv moments.  Reminding me once again, to put my "perfect" on pause and let my personality and passion prevail.  : )

  1. Wow, my biggest fear realized!!!!  You handled it brilliantly!  Great job.

  2. AlwaIys smile seeing you in action, and you handled the moment with grace and humor! Although the sound was off, I once dropped the "mic power pac" and it was a millisecond away from splashdown when caught. I remember leaving the stall feeling like my load was lightened!

  3. Ha ha ha ha! Well what a FABULOUS way to USE what happened as a model for a point you are teaching! BRILLIANT!!!!

  4. Great classic speaker moment. I've done that. I've felt that. You captured it.

  5. Smoooth, professional and very funny!! Happened to me too so I decided to be the bodiless voice from beyond and remind everyone back in the room to make wise choices at the buffet table! Hahaha!
