Do You Wear PJs to Work?

That means I have to be dressed professionally – suit and heels — with hair and makeup done, sometimes by 7 a.m. Or if it’s a travel day, that means a 3 a.m. wake-up in order to shower, shave, and soar through the air ready to go on the East Coast for a client dinner.

Given that, I’m sure you’ll understand why between trips, when I’m working from my home office, I sometimes shuffle downstairs and start working in my slippers and pajamas. Seems I’m not alone. A recent survey revealed that 20 percent of those who work from home remain in their PJ’s all day! I don’t go that far (well, at least not on the days my incredible business communication manager or intern are present), nor have I ever done what 2 percent of home workers copped to in the same survey: work naked! (And you wonder why I MUST put a towel on hotel desk chairs before sitting down.)

What’s my point? If you’re not already, cut yourself slack and enjoy knowing you’re probably not the only one reading this blog post in your PJs.

  1. Aaack!  Towel down on desk chair is now a must!  I'm glad I'm in good company with the jammies at the office routine.  Most days, however, I stick to my strict rule of being dressed and ready to work by 8:30.  This does NOT include concealer, however.

  2. Well….if yoga pants count as PJ's – then I spend EVERY moment I'm not working in my PJs. I'm just saying.

  3. Oooooooh nice. And right on the money. Most motivational speakers (myself included) work from a home office so we don't have to get fancy schmancy. My routine is brush my teeth and wash my face. Beyond that – it's comfy comfy comfy!

  4. Well, some days I don't even wash my face. I just roll out of bed and get to work.  That's why I don't do video conference calls!!!
