Buy More Feel LessHoliday bargains are costly if you’re really bargaining for something deeper. As Suze Orman’s been known to say, “When we feel less, we buy more.” And, with after Xmas “Sale” signs shoved in your face everywhere you look, it’s even more important to discern if that “must-have” item is really just a distraction from looking at what you need to invest in most: You! Do you need to acquire a new outlook on life? Do you need to invest your heart into your current relationships? What are you really avoiding when you fill up your time searching from store to store or site to site?

Rather than pursuing retail therapy, choose an activity that feeds your soul instead: Take a walk, read a book, or journal. Even if you would have gotten 60% off that holiday wrapping paper, by staying away from the stores, you’ll not only have more money in the bank, but more energy in your emotional bank account. A solid investment if you ask me.

  1. Well, I'm so glad I read this blog post BEFORE I took these return items back to Bed Bath & Beyond! I KNOW I'm going to be lured by all those sales and now that I'm reminded of what might be BEHIND the purchases I'll be drawn to make, I might stand a better chance of walking out with money IN my pocket from the returned items.  Thanks, Colette!
