Recently I was scanning an article with suggestions of things to do during the work day when you need a break. No, going through a McDonalds, logging onto Facebook or grabbing another cup of java or Red Bull didn’t make the list. The piece was chock full of tips, though. Some were obvious: take a walk outside around the building, meditate, journal. Other ideas were more esoteric: search the web for upcoming unique events to attend, write poetry, spritz a refreshing scent around you. But if you’re not into sniffing peppermint or finding a meet-up group, here’s my favorite little nugget buried near the bottom of the article: Find some great comedy – your fave comedians performing their signature acts – and laugh out loud. I immediately went to YouTube and did just that. It changed my whole outlook. Just be aware that if you’re listening to something with “adult language,” ear buds are in order. Not sure what to watch? Jim Gaffigan’s Hot Pockets routine always makes me chuckle. Or, check out the incredible comedy with heart on fellow blogger Kelly Swanson’s channel.
