Have you ever felt like your life was a scene in a movie? You know, one of those movies where a random person says something amazing and when the character in the movie turns to thank them, they are gone – like an angel that was just there for that poignant moment? It just happened to me, and I think my angel was real. I was rushing to the post office inside the grocery store – one of many errands I was rushing to. I whipped into an empty parking space right next to the handicapped spot (yay!) and I noticed a beautiful, elderly woman with wavy grey hair and an easy smile loading her car in said handicapped spot. As I grabbed my packages, she looked at me and offered; “No hurry. There’s no line inside. As soon as you show up, they are all yours. So, relax!” Now, usually when someone tells me to relax, I get tense and say ‘don’t tell ME to relax – I DON’T NEED to RELAX’. But, not this time. What the woman said, was so nice and so generous. It was as if she knew I was in a hurry, yet she had the wisdom of knowledge because she must have just come from the post office. I thanked her and went inside. She was right. No line. Just two postal workers waiting to serve customers. That never happens! It took all of 90 seconds or so for me to ship my packages and off I went. As I came outside, I saw the same woman with her beautiful smile about to drive away say, “See? No line!” I thanked her again and she drove off. I really felt like I was in a movie and that I would turn to offer a wave and there would be no car, no woman, just a cloud of joy whisping by. Then, I smiled. I know it sounds crazy, but I think she was my guardian angel for the day. I wish I had more angels like that – someone who knows something I don’t who can re-assure me that the corner I’m about to take is okay – everything is going to be alright. It’s amazing how calm one becomes when they know that we’re going to make it.
